Company History
Rocky Mountain Peach Company was founded in 1972 after John and Diane Cox came to Palisade. John first entered the fruit industry as a laborer for local farmer Ed Johnson. Through experiences as a laborer, John gained basic knowledge of peach farming techniques and practices. His dedication, genuine interest, and love of farming helped him to be promoted to manager after a short while with Mr. Johnson. John and Diane purchased their first plot of land in the East Orchard Mesa area in 1974 with the help of Diane's income as an elementary school teacher and a loan from Diane's father, Clint Kelly. The original plot consisted of 10 acres of apricots and grew to 32 acres of peaches and apricots by 1985. After a number of bad years growing Apricots, John realized the area's susceptability to Apricot freeze and the natural suitability of the land and climate to peaches. The business is now primarily concerned with peaches.
Our operation has continued to grow over the years through excellent tasting peaches and mutually beneficial sales relationships. John and Diane's two sons, Brian and David, have become an integral part of the business with the addition of their farms in Palisade. Brian and David work as operations managers and laborers on the farm as well as providing ideas for improvement. Rebecca, Brian's wife is responsible for sales and scheduling. If you call the office there is a good chance that you will talk with her.
